With over 1 billion people in 77 countries and 680 cities, including Cape
Town, already participating, Earth Hour 2009 is set to be the world's first global vote on the issue of climate
change. Voting takes place on 28 March 2009 at 8pm SA time. You vote by
switching off your lights for an hour ... and we'll be doing just that at Vision
Serpent.
To further honour our commitment to combating climate change, we are
charging a R10 environmental cleaning levy per car
at the gate. A percentage of this amount will go towards planting trees at MalPlaas
in Botrivier as a way to balance the party's carbon footprint. The rest will go
towards recycling all of the waste generated at the event by Mr Recycle. Hopefully this levy
will also encourage punters to organise car pools. Remember to reduce litter
and leave no trace. Let's not party at the expense of the venues or the planet!
