>>>VISION SERPENT<<<

SAT. 20 March 2010
Experience Psytrance Culture!

Ecstatic dancing – whether at parties or more ritualised settings - is about touching base with the cosmos. As an avatar of this blissful union, the Vision Serpent in Mayan cosmology represents (amongst other things) the moment during public rituals when entire communities are swept up in fits of euphoric dancing. Conjured into being through blissful grooves, vision serpents are portal openers that unlock gateways into fabulous other worlds. They were – and still remain – potent symbols of psychedelic trance culture.

>>> MOTION POOL<<<

From progressive to full-on, the Motion Pool features the shamans of local and international psytrance. (Saturday afternoon till late Sunday afternoon)

BURN IN NOISE
Since his debut in 2005, Brazil’s Gustavo Manfroni (aka Burn in Noise) has gained a global reputation as one of the most innovative talents in psy-trance. His signature warm basslines and deeply textured psychedelic leads have been hailed by many as representing a brand new direction in daytime full-on. Having rocked dancefloors at Boom, Universo Parelello, Vuuv, Sonica, Full Moon and Glade, Gustavo makes his SA-debut at Vision Serpent.

STARSPINE
Jacques Coetzee (aka. Starspine) is one of SA’s early psy-trance pioneers.  He began turning crowds on to psy-trance in the mid-nineties and formed Lunatech in 1999. Soon after, he started Bent Sentient – one of the first SA live-acts to obtain an international release. Since then he’s been based in Spain as a label dj for Alchemy and Nutek records. 2010 sees Jacques returning to Cape Town for the first time in 6 years – don’t miss him working his dancefloor magic at Vision Serpent!

>>>VENUE<<<

Nestled in the Obiqua mountains, De Hoek lies at the confluence of two rivers. Vinyards, open fields, trees and fynbos give way to peaks and blue skies … the perfect location for a trance-dance in the great outdoors!

There’s plenty of parking & camping space and – aside from the two dancefloors – ample opportunity for leisure.  A pebble-strewn river runs 10m from the main dance-floor while a walk of two hundred metres leads to an awesome dam, filled with soothing deep waters (bring lilos!).

This is the perfect long-weekend escape into the magical secret landscapes of the Cape. Pack hats, shawls, sunblock, comfy shoes, cossies, water containers (taps will be on hand), nibbles, star-maps and torches!

Come and experience trance as it’s meant to be experienced – under wide open African skies guarded by ancient rocks and blessed by flowing rivers!
